Louis Plevin, one of Guernsey’s youngest up and coming Judo stars, travelled to South Africa recently to compete at the 2016 Commonwealth Judo Championships which were held at the Nelson Mandela Metropole University, Port Elizabeth. He represented Guernsey in both the Junior and Senior category, competing at under 81 kilos.
Karen New, a Trustees of the Ray Lowe Sporting Foundation, said “a considerable amount of funding is required if Louis is to continue competing on the international Judo circuit. Our trustees are continually impressed by the desire and commitment possessed by the young Judo star and we were more than happy to make a contribution towards his travel costs for this specific competition.”
Louis returned to the Bailiwick after the championships with two bronze medals and our Trustees were delighted to have received a competition report and a selection of photographs he took whilst away on his trip. You can read the full match report and view some of the photos from the trip by visiting their website at www.guernsey-judo.com and you can also follow his progress at future next competitions on Twitter @GuernseyJudo.
