We were impressed to see such organisation and enthusiasm from the 80 or so young people from the Island’s secondary schools who took part in the Interschools Golf Cup Tournament at The Golf Club at St Pierre Park Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort last week. Prior to the competition yesterday, the pupils had been taking part in weekly practise coaching sessions which provided them with the platform to develop the skills necessary to compete on a level playing field come competition day.
Richard Young, one of the Trustees from our Foundation, was at the event to present the winning trophy to the school with the lowest combined score. He highlighted that “there was a great atmosphere, with lots of parents supporting the children taking part and the setting was perfect”. With the driving range and on site restaurant ’19’ within walking distance of the course, he said the facilities are perfect for developing the skills of junior golfers and was glad the Foundation had decided to support the efforts of their golf development team based there.
At the competition conclusion Elizabeth College took the honours, with The Grammar School taking second place and Les Beaucamps High School completing the top three.
We would like to congratulate all the participants for taking part and wish them well for their Golfing future.
