We are thrilled to announce the success of our 13th Annual Team Golf Day, held on Friday, 30th August 2024, at L’Ancresse Golf Course. This year’s event raised an impressive £5,600 for the Foundation, funds that will be dedicated to supporting young people across the Bailiwick of Guernsey in participating in various sporting activities.
Twenty teams competed under favourable weather conditions, contributing to a day of spirited play and camaraderie. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Doyle Motors for their continued generous support, offering prizes for any player achieving a Hole in One on the 3rd, 7th, 12th, and 18th holes.
A special congratulations goes to Andre Trebert, who secured a Hole in One on the 3rd hole. This remarkable achievement was celebrated in true golfing tradition, with Andre treating his fellow competitors to a round of drinks upon their return to the Royal Guernsey Golf Clubhouse. Despite this fantastic feat, Andre narrowly missed out on winning the new MG3 car, which was the prize on the 18th hole.
Following the competition, participants enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Royal Guernsey Golf Club restaurant. The evening continued with a lively auction and the popular Grape and Grain Raffle. We are particularly grateful to Mick Cahill for donating three Manchester United tickets for the upcoming match against Chelsea in November, and to Luke Wheadon for offering an exclusive tasting session at the Vivier Bunker Distillery.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to the L’Ancresse Golf Course Interclub Sports Committee, Pierre Payne and Pam Rees of Doyle Motors, Olly Tracey of On Screen Creations, and the management and staff of The Royal Guernsey Golf Club. A special mention goes to Dave Goupillot for his dedicated supervision of the 18th green throughout the day.
Finally, our deepest gratitude goes to the 80 golfers who participated, both returning and new competitors. Congratulations to the winning team, The Sunday 6.20’s, for their outstanding performance. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year for another fantastic day of golf and fundraising.
